Introduction:
Finally, The Final Finale

Picture

A little known fact about myself: I do not like writing. Actually, I despised it before this semester. Though throughout the semester, I’ve discovered a true liking and desire to write and improve my writing skills. The overall ethnography project has allowed me to explore my creativity as well as see the true importance of writing and grammar in life. Writing and the ability to write correctly in all different forms is so structurally important to all jobs and careers for the future. Being able to write a paper is just the tip of the iceberg; Letters, resumes, emails, and websites are all forms of writing and are predominant aspects of the workforce. I feel like I can take advantage of this new knowledge and jet set myself into a better future. Furthermore, after this English class and exploring different options, I see myself perhaps majoring in English. Through examining this chosen path, I hope to further improve my English skills. I truly feel that the ability to write and construct meaningful thoughts in a concise and interesting way will help with any future endeavors from getting a summer job, to my first internship, to my first career.
I feel the he blogs and in-class writings I have chosen illustrate my progression as a writer. I chose these specific blogs and in-class writings because the topics were extremely relevant to creating my final ethnography project. The two blogs discuss both secondary research and what I learned from a completed ethnography. Not only did this help with editing and fixing my final ethnography, but simply writing on a weekly basis helped improve my writing skills and hopefully this can be seen through my blogs. These in-class writings also demonstrate my best work as they detail the topics that I feel were the most pertinent and important with helping me finish my ethnography project.
I made several changes to my final ethnography in order to give it a creative edge as well as make the paper flow and transition better. I rearranged several aspects of the paper, placing different parts from different essays in places in the paper. I separated the entire paper into chapters that each cover a specific topic. Many of the paragraphs have been rearranged not only within a specific paper but from paper to paper. I also eliminated information from my final ethnography as well. Some information became redundant and other information no longer seem necessary in my final paper. I hope to have created a balance between my descriptive observations as well as my analysis throughout the entire paper. This was perhaps the most challenging aspect of the entire paper. It was difficult to cut out information and create a balance between all the different elements. Overall, the most dramatic changes occur in the editing of placement in my paper. Many of the paragraphs and concepts have been switched around and more analysis has been included at the end of the final ethnography.
