And relax...Here you will find all of my work from mid-term portfolio including two blogs, two in-class writings and two essays. I have also included the third essay of the semester in this section although it is technically not from the mid-term. Each assignment served as an opportunity to explore personal opinions, expand on new themes and ideas, as well as improve my writing skills. We were also required to include graphics and other elements making the assignments far more dimensional. I utilized the blog and in class writing assignments as a way to practice for the overall ethnography project.  Also in this section of my website, you will find the first three drafts of my final ethnography project: Lay of the Land, Iresearcher, and Annotated Bibliography and Interview portion. Below is a little information about each of these components as well as links to the actual writings. Please take a look!

Blogs:
Mid-term Blogs: In the first blog, I observed a dining hall at Virginia Tech in order to improve both my observation and writing skills. And for even more practice, I included my initial observation of my site, the bus system, in a blog. This served as extra practice for the actual assignment.
In-class writings:
Mid-term In-class writings: The first in-class writing I provided in my portfolio includes information about myself including my favorite reading and writing moments. In the second in-class writing, I analyzed and read a sample piece of an ethnography which was helpful for preparing and writing my own ethnography.
Drafts of each Essay:
While Lay of the Land and Iresearcher were elements of the mid-term portfolio, I have since completed another component to my overall ethnography project: Annotated Bibliography and Interview. In this section, I have provided links to each separate draft as well as information regarding the main point of each essay.
Lay of the Land: Outlines my opinions, beliefs, and biases about my chosen site. I also discuss information regarding the site, my background with the site as well as what I intend to accomplish by observing the site.
Iresearcher: In this essay, I delve into specific information about my site, the bus system. I also write about observations of the bus system and begin to analyze some of the observations.
Annotated Bibliography and Interview: The Annotated Bibliography provides different secondary research options that could potentially enhance and improve my ethnography project. Some of the secondary research could be used to help answer questions about my site and improve my thesis. The interview includes ambient interviews as well as direct interviews conducted with two riders.
