Secondary Research Information:
Along with the research we are gathering from our place, we must also include secondary research which can be from a variety of sources and will, ultimately, not only help us draw more conclusions about the culture of our site but also help our reader understand a little more about the place we have chosen. Information that I feel will be important include, perhaps, history of the bus transportation system in general, a more detailed physical description of how the bus works and runs, and more specifically the history of the Blackburg Transit. I feel that knowing more about how the Blacksburg Transit has evolved over time and how the use of the bus system has changed the campus environment and lifestyle of students. Book resources as well as online sites such as the Blacksburg Transit site specifically will possibly be helpful in analyzing and accumulating new information about my site.

What I need to accomplish:
Through reading the excerpt from Nickel and Dimed, I am able to see how a complete and well thought out ethnography project should begin to look like in the final stages of writing. There is a certain amount of thought needed in order to organize all the information we have about our site and now need to construct it in a way that is both entertaining and provides clear, intelligent insight about our site and its culture. This example clearly defines some of the key aspects of a complete project. Incorporating observations, opinions, analysis, personality, and secondary research to prove a point and to create an interesting and helpful piece of literature. The author discussing factual information about the interview process and the rules and perimeters she laid out for herself and also provides observations about the reactions of her coworkers and further an analysis of those specific reactions. She writes a detailed account of her decisions explaining the choices she makes throughout the process and some of the results of these choices and insight about having an education. She touches on the meaning of being a writer and the education level needed to be a writer. At the end, she recognizes that even some of her low-wage coworkers considered themselves writers, writing poems, essays, and even a science fiction novel. She further analyzes this specific piece of information from her project and discusses possible meanings. The author also incorporates secondary research into her essay as seen in the beginning of the excerpt. Referencing a statistic, the reader can begin to see how secondary research can be important in furthering a point or creating a foundation for evaluating a specific question or idea. All of the elements from this excerpt are key aspects of my own ethnography project, and through seeing how they have been organized is helpful in conducting my final portion of the project.
